Windows Media Player

I was wondering if anyone has run into sound quality issues when using Windows Media Player. I have an Audigy X- Hi Fi sound card. I have also encountered the same problem using other SB Audigy cards. If I listen to music via WMP the sound is not great...distorted, if I listen to the same selections using Creative Play Center, the sound seems perfect. There are features I like about WMP and I would like to continue using it, but right now Creative seems to have the edge as far as quality.
Currently I run the SB outputs to a seperate stereo amp to normal speakers. Using windows XP and XP64 no difference.
Any suggestions appreciated.

I'm pretty sure it's because creative's own software utilizes all the functions of its own card.

What version of Media Player are you using?

WMP Version 10....new version 11 does the same damn thing, as does the older version.
