Hello everyone,
I am a new system admin and I have to install Windows Server 2003 SP1 on our DC for work. This server is old and my boss advised that last time they attempted to install the service pack, it crashed the system. The specs are as follows.

800 MHZ Pentium 3 proc
512 MB RAM
7GB Free Space.

Other than it being old and slow, does this look like there should be a problem? Also if anyone can give me some useful tips when installing to check for first, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Is there any particular reason for the SP1 upgrade?
With alot of my clients, I do not use any windows updates on production servers unless the software/database/etc running on it requires so. If it is working and running smoothly why update it? I do this because I have had problems with updates on production servers in the past.

Some things to check beforehand are that running programs are compatible with SP1 update and MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A GOOD BACK-UP OR D.R PLAN!
