I got windows Vista Upgrade for christmas. Now I want to put it on the new computer im building, but that won't be for at least another month or 2. So is it at all possible to put it on the computer im using NOW, then somehow transfer it to a SATA drive on a new computer later? Or should I just wait till its built

You can switch it from one machine to another but you can only use it on one machine at a time. Install the upgrade to your current machine. When you change it over activation will probably ask you to do it by phone. They will ask if you are using it in one machine only. As long as you're not running it on two machines, you can do that.
