My friend's Medion laptop's cd drive died..... stuffed with virus's and such so i just wanted to reinstall his windows. But with out a cd drive. so i put his hard drive in my computer and installed. I put it back in and started it up, but it wont load... i try to boot in safe mode but it freezes on the file "Mup.sys"
and wont load.
any help appreciated. :(

Windows is specifically designed to not work, or not work properly when you move an install to another computer.
Try using a USB external CD Drive on the Medion, to reinstall once more.
You can buy CD Drives to fit the Medion online at eBay for $35. They do require some minor changes of screws, guides and connectors, but you can nearly always get what you need off the old drive.

hmm. alright. here is another question...
and idea how the cd drive on that laptop would just randomly die?
actually, it isn't totally dead. it still reads only a few discs, like an encyclopedia disc... i cleaned it too.

if it won't boot from a pukka windows boot CD then you are right in that it has had it. Either follow Raybay's suggestion or you could try something like Linux? There is a forum here about that in case you would like to learn more.
