Windows xp "forgets" window position/size

On the pc I use, I like to reposition/resize some windows to make best use of my desktop space. Windows however, seems to always forget how I had it last time, and reverts to either full screen, or windowed but centered when I restart the program. I can't seem to get it to retain my window preferences. It doesn't seem to matter what program it is. Is this just how xp behaves, or is some setting wrong?

See if this helps.

Double click mycomputer and click tools/folder options/view. Make sure the little box that says "Remember each folder`s view settings" is ticked. Click apply/ok and reboot your system.

If that doesn`t help, I have no further ideas.

It's already ticked. So I take it that windows should remember the setting?

I`ve just found this article. Whether it`ll help I don`t know, but it might be worth a try.
