Windows XP home edition will not shut down

  1. I have a weird problem : This machine works really well and has no bugs or virus its that is hangs up at the "Windows is shuting down" screen i have all windows updates, i have SP2 , it is an older machine but its not a boat anchor.
    Any ideas would be greatly appreciated :)

    check your registry
    with like a spyware scan
    u might have to re-install windoes uif u have no idea how to modify the registry

    are you connected to the Internet at the time? if so, pull the cable or disconnect from your dial-up.

    When it is hung up, have you tried <ct><alt><del> to get to the task manager?

    Result ---

    It ended up being bad drivers on a PCI usb 2.0 card ..
