    Hello friends.
I have a few users who use this computer.
    The question is:
When I install something under my username, the icon shortcut show up in every users desktop.
Why is this, and how would I restrict windowsXP from installing shortcuts on other users desktop.
    Thanks

Just move the shortcuts from "Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop" to "Documents and Settings\%username%\Desktop" . That'll make it so the shortcuts only show up on your profile.

Many programs that are designed for Windows 2000 or XP will also give you the option to install the program for all users, or just the current one (yourself).

So keep an eye out for that option while installing apps in the future.

    Thanks.
I was afraid there was no simple solution.
There should be a option to select.
I mean, you can make your user private, and not share your files with other users of the PC, but yet it automatically installs shortcuts on other users desktop.
