I have a 2002 toshiba satellite, with Windows Home XP. Recently, the computer has been completely shutting down when I run a full virus scan. In addition, I can usually only be on the internet for 10-45 mins before the computer turns off. If I just use an office app, everything is fine. In addition, the computer stays on forever in BIOS mode. I tried running the norton systemworks 2004 full virus scan in safe mode, no luck there either, the scan started, then the computer turned off. Completely dead. I tried running some virus scans via some online sites like Panda, but same thing happened, scans some files then just dies. The online scan got the farthest (10,000 files), while the Norton scan on my system gets to 3000-4000 files and then turns off. Any help would be appreciated.
