Windows XP Will not shut down after using CCleaner

I used CCleaner to "Clean" my drive. It also has a utility for the registry where it scans for problem entries and fixes them, or should I say should fix them... After selecting "Fix Problems" I found that I now had more problems! Aside from everything running slower, now windows will not shutdown. To restart my computer I now have to open task manager and select one of two (svchost.exe) files running Network Service, end process and then I get a diologue box that gives me one minute to close running applications at which point windows then restarts my computer. What can I do to "Fix" this problem?

There should have been a warning given about backing up your registry before continuing.

Run Check Disk and see if that rectifies the issue.

If CHKDSK doesn't fix it, try rolling it back to B4 CCleaner was run using System Restore.
