For a long time now (5 months or more), WindowsUpdate hasn't worked for me. I get as far as clicking 'Scan for Updates', then it just stops. I'm not sure why it isn't working. It worked fine before. I was using IE 5.5 SP2 at the time and allow everything from Microsoft (cookies, ActiveX, Javascript, etc.). I've reinstalled it, tried all the suggestions on Microsoft's help forums, even upgraded to the buggier IE 6.0 SP1, but nothing has worked. Still the same old click on 'Scan for Updates', sit there like a rock routine.

I've been using Techspot's OS Updates page to get some updates, but some are only available thru WindowsUpdate. I'll probably have to reformat and reinstall everything to get it working again, but in a last ditch effort, I'm posting this to see if anyone can help me.

I am not sure if it has happened yet, but I know M$ is planning on stopping support for 95 and 98?
