Hello Everybody, I'm new to this forum and am in need of some help.

I have this PC with Windows XP SP2 and it keeps restarting when I click on shutdown (no blue screen at all). After it restarts I get a message that the system has recovered from a serious error.

I have attached a zip archive containing a folder with the Mini dump file to see if someone can help me with this problem.

    Thanks in advance!

    Willy.

Two things.Do the second one, first.;)

1.The one minidump you provided points to SYMEVENT.sys - Symantec.

Normally I wouldn`t make judgements on one minidump, but Symantec

is so problematic,I`m going to say uninstall all Norton products and install

AVG and Comodo Firewall or Kerio.

    2.Right click My Computer/Properties/Advanced/Startup and Recovery/Settings,

uncheck'Automatically Restart' in the System Failure section, click ok.

Now shutdown the computer again. You should see an Error message. That might or might not help.

    Thanks for the reply.

I bought a copy of norton 2007. I had 2005 installed. I uninstalled 2005 and installed norton 2007. So far the problem has gone. But I am still testing it.

If the problem persists, I will try AVG.

    Thanks!
    Willy.
