winxp starting problem

hi,
I have both win xp and win98 in my system.for the past one week when I start my system window 98 work properly but when i want to go to win xp
I get a blank screen with a small blue horizontal strip in the middle of screen
if I press enter system hang and I cant use winxp. when I restart the machine I do not get this problem and can use winxp normally.
I have restored my system and also installed win xp again with the help of bootable cd but the problem persists. Can someone solve my problem.

I dont know . I just start it . I do not insert any bootable cd or device to boot my computer.
