Wiping a harddrive clean

  1. I have two magnets I removed from a harddrive & am wondering if I move them over the discs, will that wipe the discs clean?

    Most-likely yes. Magnets are highly destructive to hard drives, and if you pass them over the disks (in an opened case) you will most likely fry any data on it.

    Thank you. I fgured that was the case. They are now sitting loosely in my drawer filled with smudge marks from my fingers:). I shall pass the magnets over them a few times.:)
