check the IP adress either by left-clicking the connection icon in the tray and click support, or by going to a command line and typing "ipconfig /all"
if the address is 169.254.x.x then you may have a problem with misconfiguration or possible interference. Go to Device manager, look for network bridges and remove any you find, also check for 2.4GHz devices in your house.
If you are using a WEP key, disable it and see if the problem is still there. If Disabling WEP fixes it, you may need to change they key format from ascii to hex.
