Wireless is wep want to change to wpa

Hiya

Right this is how the story goes, i read the https://www.techspot.com/vb/topic77745-2.html article, and after reading that wep has been hacked and is easy to hack into i now definitely want to go wpa, my router is wpa ready.

my router is the DG834GT from Netgear, and it supports 2 wpa abilities.

1. WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key)
2. WPA-802.1x

I would like to know which 1 to choose, and what would be more secure as i am currently am on wep, and i live beside a petrol station, and there is a lot of cars that go in and out frequently, and im freaked out about war driving.

If anyone could help, i would be very thankful.

any wpa is better than wep; HOWEVER, sometimes your WiFi adapter on the PC
will only connect using one or the other and sadly, I've seen some that would
only connect using WEP.

to help you with another layer of security, config your router to only accept
known MAC addresses and enter exactly ONE device-- your pc.

yea i have done that to only let, my xbox 360, home pc, and laptop connect

i shall try and see if wpa is compatible with my devices
