Wireless Network Problem

I am currently visiting family for a little while. They have a wireless network. And my laptop has a wireless card. My laptop detects the network. But will not connect. It doesn't even attempt to connect. And the network is not encrypted or protected in any way. I know it's not the network. But I can't figure it out.

Try to clear your previous wireless settings. In the Network Configuration menu, right click your wireless, and select properties. Click the "Wireless networks" tab and delete all the saves ("Preferred Networks") you see. Then try to connect.

You also need to make sure you are getting your IP address from the router's DHCP server. You probably won't be able to use the same settings that are at your home (if you assing your IP's manually)
