just connected my new 3com wireless router to my pc.
used the cd rom provided with the instal wizard.
can't seem to get on to the net.
all i get is error 648.
have turned off my firewall but no joy.
is it possible something that i have disabled in the services has prevented me from logging on.
have tried the 3com wizard and also the xp pro network wizard.
i know this is very limited info but i am a newby at networking and routers.

Can you connect to the router? can you see your network? Who is your ISP? If you have comcast(and a few others) you'll most likely need to spoof the MAC address of the machine that was formerly connected to the modem onto the router.

can connect to the router.
i am in asia so have a local isp.
am using adsl ppoe.
i think i may have come across something that is not checked in the network setup so will try it out.
thanks for the reply

Error 648 is a dial up error. This means your computer making the connection - That's a no no.

Your router should be making the connection to your DSL or Cable. You'll need to setup your router to do this.

Then any computer plugged into the router should "instantly" be online... No connection necessary.
