WMV error

  1. Ok, So this has probs been asked before, i looked around but culdnt find anythin.

Most of my AVI and WMV files work perfectly on my pc. I use VLC to play all of them. Then, sometime when i download a new WMV file, or some avi's they are all distorted. Like blocks, pinks, greens, blurring. Cant make the picture out, but you can see that there is movement on the image.
Now i was wondering, is this codec related, or could it be VLC? I have tried opening with divx and it says that the file is not a valid video file. Grrr.
Had this problem before, and also then i couldnt find a way to solve it.

Sorry if this has been asked before. Any help appreciated.

It sounds like they got corrupted whilst downloading.

You just have to redownload them (usually).
