I've looked all over the card and everywhere but i can't find the maker (i don't currntly have the maker's name but it's on its way just i'm impatient) i've downloaded the GeForce 4 drivers from nvidida and they installed okay, they are not corrupted or anything but i'm still having problems and the only thing i can put it down to is the maker

so in brief
Anyone know a program to help me find a maker

Oh yeah cos i'm in the Uk there's no Fcc number :(

Download WCPUID and go to the View menu and click Device List. Under "Device Type" look for VGA Compatible (or something simmilar) and then look at the Vendor ID collum. When you get that, go to this page and look for the number (ignore the h at the end of the number).

Hope that helps

Thanks, i got WCPID when i went to the device list i got this (see sttached pic) and when i looked it up it's just from Nvidia with the info
Device ID:0x0171
Chip Number: NV17.2
Description: GeForce4 MX 440
So is it not something wrong with the vendor? might it be the drivers? i've downloaded and re-installed many times

or could it be my screen

The Device ID just tells you what type of card it is, not the vendor name. Use Sisoft Sandra to get the name of the maker.

Pick the PCI,AGP,Cardbus Information tool, and under the Adapter dropdown select AGP and the vendor should appear in the Device window.

SiSoftware Sandra

Another problem now, DirectX won't install when I tell it too, it's says it has but when i look in the folders it hasn't and when i check dxdiag that doesn't report any problems, says i'm running version 7.0 and shows me the files, I'm using Xp and have multiple accounts, anyway if installing it manually?
