symptoms:

1) popups at startup:
error loading c:\\windows\system32\winsys16_070828.dll
windows can't find c:\windows\system\lsass.exe
c:\windows\system32 folder
2)Can not access task manager
3) Everytime i use internet explorer, the following shows on the screen:
a runtime error has occured. do you wish to debug?
line: 147
error: 'menu.filters.0' is null or not an object

i'm done with howar'ds guide. but i can't properly execute smitfraud.exe . the command prompt displays : 'd:\mplayer.com' is not recognized as an internal or external command. then during the registry editing, the prompt displays ' registry editing has been disabled by your administrator.'

after following howard's guide, only the third symptom remains. attached here are hjtlog, antispywarelog and combofixlog.

thanks in advance=)))))

Your system has been hijacked and has a variety of malware.

Very Important: Before deciding whether you should clean or reformat your system, go and read this thread HERE and decide what it is you want to do.

If after reading the above, you wish to clean your system, do the following.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/lonny/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

Attach the C:\fixwareout\report.txt into your next reply.

You might want to copy and paste these instructions into a notepad file. Then you can have the file open in safe mode, so you can follow the instructions easier.

Boot into safe mode, under your normal user name(NOT THE ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT). See how HERE.

In Windows Explorer, turn on "Show all files and folders, including hidden and system". See how HERE.

Go to add remove programmes in your control panel and uninstall anything to do with(if there).

BearShare applications
BearShare MediaBar

Close control panel.

Open your task manager, by holding down the ctrl and alt keys and pressing the delete key.

Click on the processes tab and end process for(if there).

svchost32.exe

Close task manager.

Run HJT with no other programmes open(except notepad). Click the scan button. Have HJT fix the following, by placing a tick in the little box next to(if there).

R3 - URLSearchHook: BearShare MediaBar - {D3DEE18F-DB64-4BEB-9FF1-E1F0A5033E4A} - C:\Program Files\BearShare applications\BearShare MediaBar\MediaBar.dll

O3 - Toolbar: BearShare MediaBar - {D3DEE18F-DB64-4BEB-9FF1-E1F0A5033E4A} - C:\Program Files\BearShare applications\BearShare MediaBar\MediaBar.dll

Fix all 017 entries that have this IP address.

O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.115.27 85.255.112.181

Click on the fix checked button.

Close HJT.

Locate and delete the following bold files and/or directories(if there).

C:\WINDOWS\AutoRun.ini
C:\WINDOWS\system\svchost32.exe

thanks for the immediate response...

when i run combofix, an error occurs. 'sed.cfexe has encountered a problem' then i always click 'don't send error report' . combofix continues to run though.

the computer doesn't have svchost32.exe . instead it has 2 svshost.exe running. the first uses 2304k and the other uses 7152k.

after running fixwareout, i had troubles with internet connection. so i enabled dnsbak.reg

thanksthanksthanks in advance.

Have HJT fix the following entries.

O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\..\{23F30D7E-431C-4B73-92FD-5D559D314E9C}: NameServer = 85.255.115.27,85.255.112.181

O17 - HKLM\System\CS2\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.115.27 85.255.112.181

O17 - HKLM\System\CS2\Services\Tcpip\..\{23F30D7E-431C-4B73-92FD-5D559D314E9C}: NameServer = 85.255.115.27,85.255.112.181

Click on the fix checked button.

Close HJT and reboot your system.

1. Please download The Avenger by Swandog46 from HERE. Save it to your Desktop and extract it.

2. Download the attached avengerscript.txt and save it to your desktop

Note: the above code was created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.

3. Now, start The Avenger program by double clicking on its icon on your desktop.

Under "Script file to execute" choose "Load script from file".
Now click on the folder icon which will open a new window titled "open Script File"
navigate to the file you have just downloaded, click on it and press open
Now click on the Green Light to begin execution of the script
Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.

4. The Avenger will automatically do the following:

It will Restart your computer. ( In cases where the code to execute contains "Drivers to Unload", The Avenger will actually restart your system twice.)
On reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avenger’s actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.

5. Please attach the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply, as well as a fresh HJT and Combofix log.

Regards Howard :)

computer keeps rebooting

so i deleted those three then rebooted. afterwards the system keeps rebooting. then i manually shut it down. turned it on. at start up, a window pops up,'system has recovered from a serious error blahblahblah' . i chose 'don't send' then the system rebooted by itself. another start up then the cycle continues. but if i don't do anything with the pop up window, nothing happens.

Run the Avenger again, but this time use the avenger script that`s attached to this post.

Please attach the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply, as well as a fresh HJT and Combofix log.

i already deleted the dump_wmimmc.sys which was located in avenger folder. the computer is fine now except for the unstable internet connection.
super thank you!

when the computer was still behaving abnormally, internet connection was stable. after cleaning the computer, i can hardly connect.

and

computer unpredictably reboots

Please post 5 or 6 of your latest minidumps.

You can find them in C:\windows\miniumps folder. You can attach the .dmp files directly to your post.

Regards Howard :)

Your minidump crashes at win32k.sys. This is a Windows process and is not the culprit. The owning process is VeohClient.exe. This is related to Veoh_Networks Veoh lets you share your video with Internet users. Note: Located in C:\Program Files\Veoh Networks\Veoh\VeohClient.exe.

I suggest you uninstall Veoh Networks and see if your system becomes stable.

If it doesn`t, please post any further minidumps you get.

That minidump is exactly the same as your other one. Again VeohClient.exe is the owning process.

I strongly urge you to uninstall the C:\Program Files\Veoh Networks programme and see if that helps.
