Hey guys,

I'm wondering as to everyone's thoughts on this upgrade, going from a non-dual core A64 3700+ to an X2 4200+. It seems like a nice upgrade for my aging system, but would I see any real world benefit?

What I would need it for are games (Call of Duty 4, Crysis, etc) and watching HD content. 720p is never a problem, but depending on the movie 1080i and 1080p rarely runs well enough to watch.

Rest of my specs should show up in that drop down thing or I'll edit this post with them if not.

Thanks!

It should give you a nice increase in performance even in day to day use where you'll find that running multiple applications at the same time is much smoother. That part you'll looking to upgrade to shouldn't be too expensive either.

Thanks for the response D. The 4200+ is only $66 which sparked my interest in the first place.

I'll give it some more thought and think about buying one next month or so.

It would show a large performance improvement, since it would allow you to multitask without any noticeable performance penalty.
