Would you still consider buying the Galaxy Note 7?

Yes. I bought one the day it came out and loved it. Turned it in a few days after the recall and can't wait to hopefully get one back. Traded it in for the S7 Edge which is nice but it's just not the Note.

I would consider if I'm moving to android and they will totally fixed this time b0mb. the fact that it is a manufacturing defect (battery pins shorting) and not a user controlled defect (e.g. bending), my safety and my family comes first than any loyalty for brands out there.

Consider, yes. Buy, no.
I don't need the latest and greatest, though this would be high up on the list.

Plus I generally don't buy tech day one so the kinks are worked out first.

agreed, but a heartfelt Thank You to all of you with more money than me that are willing to work out the pesky bugs of the apparently-acceptable Alpha releases that so many seem to be completely ok with!

I am never gonna waste money on a expensive phone, no matter what brand it may be.

It's a phone for crying out loud. You use it for everyday tasks, and just about any smartphone today have more than adequate hardware todo that.

With few exceptions they all have about the same connectivity options, multicore processors, plenty of RAM and storage, so a 150$ phone can do exactly the same as a 1000$ phone, so why bother?

Soo.. I'll stick with my soon-to-be two years old $130 Huawei G620S 5" Quadcore 720p handset.. with integrated 3,5" audio jack.. ;-)

Yes, I would still consider the Note 7. But I think the real problem remains that I think they charge too much for a flagship phone. So far I love almost everything about my OnePlus 3 and I have a history of buying unlocked phones. I'm just not going to spend more then 400 for a new phone. The battery problem they are having is a non-issue to me.

This type of issue isn't new and a little research of the Google machine shows over the last few years the major smart phone manufacturers including LG, HTC and Apple have had incidents where the batteries in their phones have caught fire or exploded due to failure. I do think Samsung is handling it much better than any of the above mentioned companies and I would gladly buy a Note 7 once things are sorted out. Until they find a safer alternative that is as cost effective as Li Ion, the reality is that these incidents (although not very often) will continue to happen.

It certainly isn't new, but earlier cases have been exactly that, "incidents". This is a production fault which they have found, and therefore they have to recall because of safety and to not have a shitstorm even bigger than what they are having now.

I agree that it is definitely a production fault. But, they are handling it very well and will do what it takes to make this as right as they can. Sure, their reputation may take a hit, but it's nothing they can't overcome.

The 10 days I spent with it, I think that the note 7 is the best device and will remain so for the next few years!! I am waiting for my replacement to arrive!! There is no way I'm going to Go with another device because of this!!

And yes , Samsung has handled this issue very very well.

Handled very well? Must be smoking something good... the US recall was a disaster. Samsung didn't bother to work with the CPSC nor the FTC... The carriers were left hanging dry since nobody could ship those Note 7 back to Samsung because all Note 7 were banned from any transportation because they were deemed "bombs", no shipping by air nor ground.

Absolutely!
I purchased mine (with a new contract...because they're pricey!) and must have been the last day they shipped!
I love it and will trade it in when it's possible.

Even without the battery issue, I would not have bought it.

I'm more than done with Samsung's bloated Touchwizz. Bring on a new Nexus phone already.

Personally the phone was never appealing to me, even before it started exploding. I don't like ridiculously large phones. With such similar specs to the s7 and edge, I'd rather just get one of those if I had a to buy a Samsung phone, but honestly I'd prefer to get a moto z force, since it sounds great. Anyways, if it was on a big discount then maybe I'd look into it, but since it's not, I'd rather get another, slightly smaller phone. I'm not an Apple person, but I think I'd rather get an iPhone 7 plus even, since it's going to wreck this performance wise, and since you actually get something for getting the larger version of the phone (an extra gig of ram)

No global LTE band support, way overpriced compared to their competitors so buying outright you are being robbed - $1300+ AUD or over $800 USD for a phone that doesn't work on LTE in most countries. Show stoppers for me.

I'm tired of having to buy new phones. Give me a new smart flip-phone with a touchscreen and physical buttons plus the normal apps. I'll keep it for a thousand years. clam-shell it.

Get the Note 2. Five years running solid already and no signs of slowing down.

My Note 3 is still working perfectly, but if I were to upgrade, the Note 7 would be at the top of my list. Hopefully there will be a "significant discount" after the troubles it's had.
