Hi guys. I'm building a new PC. I was thinking along the lines of the X600 XT 256mb by SAPPHIRE. It was well priced and has a good name but how does it hold up against HL2 and Doom 3. I'm not looking for graphs'n stuff. I just wana know if it looks half decent when put 5 fingers down.

Here are some benches.

Edit: sorry, I didn't see that you don't want graphs. It depends on what framerates/resolutions/game quality you consider acceptable. What's your screen res? How high do you want the graphics quality? Some people "need" high quality, while for others med/low is fine.

What price point are you looking at? x600xts that I found are about $120us. So in that range I'd suggest a nvidia 6600(regular).
Here are two.
Passively cooled(silent)

Normal fan cooled.

Btw: You are looking at pci-e cards right? I'm guessing so, since the x600xt seems to be only available as pci-e.

ya

the benches on my pals computer are set up to date.(the one I'm building/built another for even if he is 1/2 way around the world.) I don't know if he see's good quality. but my LST says it's running at X700 level. I just want to know if he see's what I think. :blackeye:
