Xbox Wireless adapter is beyond slow

I bought the xbox wireless adapter to play live without a ethernet cable. I always have a bad ping, i use it upstairs with the router downstairs, but when i bring it downstairs right next to the router, it still continues to be slow.

do i have to open any ports for the wireless adapter??

No but make sure that the wireless Router is not connecting to a neighbors router instead of the one in your house. Hopefully you changed the SSID on your router so you can tell.

wireless is a poor choice for this box. gaming will need much higher data rates,
and a wire connection beats wireless hands down. yes, I can already hear you
regarding the cable to the upstairs -- just giving you some facts to consider.

re wireless ports; no such thing. wireless/wired connections are the hiways
the data traverses while ports are the cities your data visits. If your games
are connecting end-to-end, then the ports are correct. otherwise you may
need to port-forward from your router to you xbox one or more per specific game.
