xp 64 bit and xp 32 bit os

  1. will the xp 64 bit os work on a computer that is running xp 32 bit os currently?

    is it backward compatible?

    also would the product key that was intended to be used for xp 64 bit os be used for the normal xp 32 bit os?

    If your cpu is 64bit it will run, is this what you mean? It can run 32bit programs.

    Or can it be upgraded to 64bit? I think it can. The key most likely wont work on 32bit version.

    you can have duel boot os on your computer, but neither is compatible. 64 bit OS require programs to be 64 bit. Few are.
    Also you need 64 bit drivers for all your devices. Not many either.
    64 bit is ahead of its time.
    now 64 bit CPUs can run in 32bit compatibility mode.... all do so far.
