XP and 2 drives issue

I have just installed XP on a new 250G seagate. Alls well with 1 drive. My second is an older 20G with W2000. It also loads by itself. I want to connect both drives and only use XP and just have access to old drive as a secondary. I have connected them both together, XP drive 1st then Drive2. I have set XP drive as master and the second drive says to remove little clip thingy if Drive2 is to be slave. When I start, PC asks to be booted from CD. I went into BIOS and it won't recognise either drive, ( but will recognise them singular ). Any idea what i am doing wrong. Should i select CS on both drives? its got me....... thanks for any help!

Recheck your drive jumper settings. the drive with the OS should be set as master and the other drive as slave.

although WindowsXP and Windows2000 are built off of WindowsNT technology, XP's NTFS file system is different from other NTFS file systems (such as NT and 2000), so chances are XP will not recognize a drive using another file system.
