    Hi,

I'm attempting to format my computer, which is virus laced, with my original version of Windows XP. I've reformatted other computers before and have never had this problem.

So far, I've switched priorities in the bios to read the CD drive first and then put in the CD and rebooted the computer. The computer does not recognize the CD in the drive and skips the boot process. I checked in windows and the CD drive works fine, so I don't know why it's not recognizing the CD upon reboot. This CD is an original. No scratches. Opens up in Windows by itself.

Can anyone help me with this problem?

when you start your computer and its still on the post screen does it ever ask something like press enter to boot from the cd?

Does it actually do anything? Or does it just completely ignore the CD. Also, if you have 2 optical drives, you'll want to put it in the one that is set up as master.

    Regards,
