xp hangs after installing ati 9600

hi,

i have windows xp and integrated graphics, and i'm trying to get my new radeon 9600 card working. i installed it, installed it's drivers, disabled my onboard graphics in the device manager, but when i restart, the system hangs at the xp logo screen. can anyone help?? this is driving me insane.

is there an option to disable onboard video in bios??

there is an option to change the mode, which i set to the lowest - mono. i guess this isn't disabling it, though...that's all i saw. is there another way to do it?

there is an option to change the vga mode (with the lowest setting being mono), and there is a setting in the "integrated peripherals" category to change between pci and agp. is this what i want? change it to agp? then enable the card in windows and disable the onboard in windows?
