XP home service pack 1

  1. Just loaded windows xp home.Installs, reboots,gets to the installation page and then asks for me to insert xp home service pack 1 into the drive.I didnt get a copy of this with the cd. Is the same service pack as XP pro as i dont see a specific one for xp home on the microsoft site.I believe it said file amms was missing.

    Many thanks for any input

    it seems to me that you may have a ****** copy, take it back to where you got it from.and if it's genuine the people you got it from should sort it for you. you should have now service pack 2, this you can get free from microsoft, by download or on cd (by mail) FREE!

    It came with the machine.Its second hand and yes it is genuine thats why its not asking for sp2.I have downloaded SP1a from microsoft just wanted to know if it was specifically for either pro or home or wether it was generic

    all you need to do now is to download sp2 from MS updates
