xp home wont boot. virtual memory problem Help!

  1. my dell 4500 wont boot. It goes throu the motions again and again saying not enough virtual memory. How can I correct this without being able to boot?

    Boot in safe mode, and make sure you have a pagefile.sys (virtual memory) on your PC.
    Did you have that on another partition/harddisk and remove the HD/partition?

    When I enter via safe mode, I get the same results and message. Then it reboots again.

    Thanks. I followed the instructions (did a repair on xp home from the XP disk as mentioned and described), and after it was all done, still the problem exists. Now what!

    I read that already and tried some of the stuff. I am going to have to put the drive in a D: drive as a slave and slide the pictures into the newly installed windows xp C: that I made. But I will have to load all the programs back because they wont work with out reloading most of them from CDs.
