XP Installation CD and the big bad blank black screen

Hello everyone, before you castrate me for being a newb, remember, I am just that.... a newb.

So basically I want to dual boot xp with vista already installed. I set my BIOS to boot cd but every time I start up with the installation cd in I am getting a blank screen until it times out after 35 sec and goes to boot of hard drive which in turn loads vista.

So what is going on?? I have a P5k-delux mobo with a Maxtor 500GB SATA drive. As well my comp is but a few months old.

Any advice would be EPIC!

doesn't sound conclusive. does the cd drive actually do something or at least trying something? did you already try a different cd to boot from?

is the cd / dvd clean?

Disable the harddrive boot in the bios and then try.

I want to know if you are using window installation disk to do that? Cos Window installation disk can automatically detect your HD and book from it after installation.
