XP Loading is slower

  1. I have several user accounts on my pc and now when I click on my name it's taking a lot longer than it used to for the blue "Welcome" screen to vanish and the desktop icons and the stuff in startup to begin loading. What could be causing this delay?

A slow boot usually is caused by too many programs starting at boot and running in the background. This can be controlled:

Click on Start> Run> type in msconfig' without the quites> enter> Selective Start-ups> Startup tab> uncheck everything except the anti-virus program, firewall if you have one, appoint if you have laptop and network process if you have network set up< Apply> OK> Reboot

Close out the nag message that comes up after checking 'don't show this message any more". That should you better performance.
