XP one hard drive to another.

  1. If you are changing a hard drive, can you copy the windows XP from the old hard drive onto it. I just got a new hard drive to replace my old one. the old one is going into a different computer, dont worry i entend formatting it. The rest of the hardware in the current computer will remain the same, its just there is no phone line in the house. I can ring microsoft and register the windows but I dont want to be without the computer at the weekend.

    If all the hardware you are changing is the HDD itself then i would use the manufacturers HDD utilities that came with the drive to Clone the old drive to the new drive...
    Copying an OS or a program doesn't work.
    If it didn't ship with a CD or floppy then travel to the HDD website and download them.
