I know it's possible to install windows xp pro over home, but can I do it without losing any of the files that are currently on my pc?

Welcome to techspot.

I see you've asked an old question, but one which gets asked time and time again.

There are many such threads if you would like to use this forums simple search facility, but if you choose otherwise, here's one such thread for you to read...

If you have it install it. Actually, upgrade Home to Pro and you won't loose any files. Instead of clicking New Installation, click Upgrade.

I don't really get that. Can I just put the CD in and it'll just replace the old home files with the new pro one's?

I don't want to do a clean install. And the search wasn't working for me before.

Cheers.

Oops - sorry. I mis-read your question.

As far as I am aware, it is possible - either by installing on a different partition, or by "keeping the file structure intact" and choosing a folder other than windows to install to. I'm only 90% sure on this though.
