Xp pro upgrade made pc really slow now want to down grade to win 2000

    I loaded xp pro onto a gateway pc it made the pc run really slow so, i installed 256ram same problem arised now, they want win 2000 on, but, i keep getting an error message" the operating system you are trying to instal is an older version, and installing options will be disabled" Can I just reformat the drive?

    It more then likely not the os ... Probbly spyware or a virus a number of things what you mean slow??? And a few more specs please

    Welcome to TechSpot

    Just set the computer to boot from Windows 2000 CD and you should be able to delete XP and install 2000.
