XP Restart problem

    Hi there,

    My pc shuts down itself after a few minutes of booting, I have formatted the HDD and reinstalled XP, but the problem persists. The shutdown shows usual 'saving your settings' message. I checked my power options. I am unble to connect to internet.
    Pls help.

    Have you checked that your cpu heatsink is clean and firmly attached?

    Have you added any new hardware recently or had a major storm?

    Any new hardware?

    Unplug all unnecessary devices (e.g. USB cams and external disks)

    Try using a fan to blow cool air into the pc just in case it's a heating issue.

    Does the same problem exist if you boot into XP Safe Mode?

    Finally, i would suggest you look at the Windows Event Log files (probably just the Application and Systems Log for interesting entries.)
