The Gmail Notifier is a downloadable Windows application that alerts you when you have new Gmail messages. It displays an icon in your system tray to let you know if you have unread Gmail messages, and shows you their subjects, senders and snippets, all without your having to open a web browser.

The Notifier is in beta. Before you download it, we encourage you to review the system requirements and privacy information.

*Note: If you've enabled the 'Always use https' setting in Gmail, you'll need to install a patch for the Notifier to work with this setting:

1. Download the patch (https://www.google.com/mail/help/downloads/notifier_https.zip).
2. Open the folder.
3. Double-click the notifier_https.reg file.
4. Click yes when you're asked to confirm if you want to add the information to the registry.
5. Restart the Notifier.

If you decide you no longer want to use the https setting, you'll need to install the other file included in the download to reset the Notifier. Use the same method as above, except with 'notifier_https_undo.reg.'
