I get these all the time. This is what I tell them:
Dear (insert name here).
I can't help you right now, but perhaps you can help me.
My father worked as a weapons dealer in many countries around the world. The last time he had the opportunity to ply his trade, he was in South Africa negotiating a multi million dollar weapons for drugs deal. Unfortunately, the deal was compromised and my father had to abandon the drugs and immediately return to the U.S. where, I and my family believe, the stress was just too great and he died of a massive stroke within days of his return. We knew he worked for the government here, but he never discussed his job, and we knew better than to ask.
While going through his belongings, I was surprised to find a secret hiding spot behind his dresser that contained a folio that the government people who were here failed to find. In reading the documents, I have found, that in a location in So. Africa, is a buried 50 gal. sealed drum containing 80 Kilos of high grade cocaine, that was to be used for the arms purchase. There is a second spot with 1 kilo only, buried.
I have the GPS coordinates for both sites. I will be happy to give you the coordinates of the 1 kilo spot, so you could use it as a sample to negotiate the sale of the remainder. The 80 Kilos are worth at wholesale approximately 2.2 million dollars US. I am not in a position to leave the country at this time. If you could negotiate this sale, I would be happy to let you keep 1/2 the money. As a gesture of good will I would ask only a good faith deposit of $10,000 for the 1 kilo location. That is less than half it's worth. If this deal seems workable for you, please get back to me as soon as possible so I can give you the instructions of where to wire the money.
