Sony DRU-530A to support 8X DVD-R

Beginning next month, owners of the DRU-530A and DRX-530UL can upgrade to 8X DVD-R and 4X DVD-RW recording speeds for free. The firmware upgrade will be available [URL=http://sony.storagesupport.com/dvdrw/dru530adwn.htm]here[/URL].

Pricing has also dropped in the last week. The 530A is now retailing for $220, plus a $30 rebate. The 530UL will debut at less than $300, plus the same $30 rebate.
