Looks like there are four versions of the new CK8-04 chipset, according to an anonymous Russian source cited by a French web site. The next-generation AMD64-oriented chipset line will ship in both standard and Ultra versions. There will also be a Pro release and an SLI release, which surely has something to do with SLI through PCI Express x16. Other cool features will probably include Gigabyte Ethernet and a hardware firewall.

More to read on this here, and here.

  1. Hopefully we'll get a better release date next month when it becomes more official. I'm waiting for that chip and the next via 890 before I upgrade. Hopefully, they'll get release before Christmas!
  2. It's Gigabit Ethernet isn't it, not Gigabyte in this sense.
