Sun fights Red Hat to get a fighting chance

Sun will attack Red Hat in a move to disrupt competitors' pricing and business models. It plans to out-engineer everybody in the x86 space, and join forced with the unholiest of unholies, Microsoft, in a scheme to battle IBM, who are doing some great stuff with Linux right now.

Sun's attack will comprise something along the lines of the following: pretend that Linux is nothing more than Red Hat. Belittle Red Hat itself, then constrast its own products with those of Red Hat.

Hmm, all sounds a little sad and desperate to me. I don't know what worries me more, the unslinging or the alliance with Bill Gates. Either way, sounds like tough times ahead for Sun.
