Turn your PS2 into a media player

Ximeta Inc. is developing software that will allow the Sony Playstation 2 to serve as a home media player. The software will allow a PlayStation 2 to connect to a Ximeta removable hard drive, the console is then able to play back recorded files on a television screen. No PC is required - just one of the company's removable hard drives, which range up to 250 Gbytes in capacity. No pricing has yet been decided upon.

  1. Not a bad idea, I think this is one of those reason Sony Axed HD support in the new Slim PSTwo and the software now on the mods sight that allow to download games to the HD and run them. There is some stuff out there that will do some of the stuff but I don't want to mod my PS2 or use the Knife-Switch Method - disc swapping method. I think it will be more picey for me over getting a DVD player that is Divx Certified Personally. For networking, there's the Game Shark Media Drive.
