The Day of the Robot Soldier

iRobot (not to be confused with I, Robot) have been responsible for a number of futuristic miracles recently. They brought the small, unmanned PackBot robots to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and now they have developed truck-size robots that can be driven into combat manned, controlled remotely.

The Military R-Gator is designed to handle perimeter security and to take the load off soldiers. It can ferry supplies and other loads into battle, freeing up human military teams for other tasks. It can deliver much-needed provisions from the back lines to the front, as well as performing many other invaluable functions. They should debut in 2006. More here.
