Dell CEO says they are considering AMD

I have decided to pay attention to this subject one last time, at least until Dell finally releases either desktop PCs or servers equipped with AMD processors. Rumours have been floating around since the beginning of the year that Dell would finally make the move and include AMD's Opteron processors in some of their server offerings, this has yet to materialize.

Chief Executive Kevin Rollins said the company was considering using Advanced Micro Devices chips for some future server products, but stressed that Dell had no formal plans as yet to embrace AMD.

It should be quite obvious at this point that Dell enjoys of a certain special deal with Intel. As the number 1 PC manufacturer, they are doing good but I have no doubt they will start offering AMD-based servers and probably desktops too, as soon as their current agreement expires. By now they should be aware that in one way or the other, they are losing customers.
