Police in the Czech Republic are hopefully closing in on the authors of the Internet worm Slammer. Authorities there are questioning a former member of the 29A virus writers club called "Benny", and have confiscated computers belonging to him.

"Benny" has claimed that he has never released a virus into the wild, however it is claimed that he did publish virus source code on the Internet. Other people may have subsequently taken this code and used it to release viruses into the wild. However, no clear link currently can be proved between the Slammer worm and "Benny", who was recently employed by antivirus company Zoner software, and who has been in the media spotlight since his retirement from the 29A group in early 2003. Police investigations continue.
