Nvidia's NV47 was a figment of your imagination

Rumours abounded about NV47, the Nvidia chip that was supposed to give "Fudo" R520 a run for its money. Information was given - that the chip had 24 pipelines, eight Vertex Shader units and was based on NV40 marchitecture.

As it turns out, this is complete and utter bunkum.

"I have to disappoint you all as Nvidia never had such a chip. Nvidia never had anything codenamed NV47 and this chip never existed. Very learned sages with long grey beards close to Nvidia's plans confirm this."

Nvidia remains secretive about its forthcoming projects, not even divulging the codename of their next project, or anything about its specs, or possible release date. With NV48 and NV50, the next move from Nvidia is anyone's guess.
