Opera free for students

By Derek Sooman on
Opera Software is to give its popular browser software away for free to universities and colleges. Prior to this, universities and colleges had to purchase licenses in bulk at a cost of $1 each. All of this is coming at a time when some education establishments are making Opera available for student use.

"Opera is the ideal browser for the university environment. Opera's user-friendly features, accessibility options for the disabled, and cross-platform and customization capabilities make life easier for students to manage their various study needs. Opera is fully standards compliant and offers extensive administration possibilities for network configuration, providing flexibility to system administrators as they make Opera a part of their university network." - Opera CEO Jon von Tetzchner.
