Intel is reorganising itself and its key operations around the concept of platforms rather than separate products. Operational units will have the autonomy to allocate computing resources, and the units will include Digital Enterprise, Digital Home and Digital Health Groups, as well as Mobility and Channel Products Groups. The Mobility Group merges the notebook x86 chips and mobile chipset products with Intel's ARM-based XScale PDA and mobile phone-oriented offerings; Digital Home Group focussed on home computing and communications platforms; the Digital Health Group pursues business opportunities for Intel architecture products in healthcare research, diagnostics and productivity.
