Mozilla Foundation stops backing Mozilla browser

Mozilla Foundation have decided that the Mozilla browser will end at version 1.7.x, at least in terms of backing. The browser can, of course, continue in a community-supported fashion for anyone who wants to keep it going, but it looks like the future is all Firefox browser and Thunderbird e-mail client as far as the Foundation are concerned. Now, isn't that a surprise, given the success of both, particularly (as in the case of Firefox) in starting a modest trend of usage away from Internet Explorer.
