What is Microsoft's new Xbox going to be called? Well, if like pretty much everyone else you thought "Xbox 2" then you would be wrong. As rumour has it, the new name is "Xbox 360".

Gaming press SPOnG said hacks attended a marketing briefing in Soho, where consumers were pitched different marketing campaigns for the machine, which is due to launch in time for Christmas. Slogans apparently mooted include 'Xbox 360: Amplify Yourself!' and 'Xbox Live: Menage a Billions'. Fantastic.

This name is already bounding about, for example in discussions about whether Tombraider will be coming to the console.

Ofcourse it wont be called "XBox 2", that was Sony's thing. Xbox 360 could be a safe bet, but not many anticipated Playstation2 as the next name, so you never know.
